Anionic Polyacrylamide for Steel Mill Sewage Treatment

For steel plant wastewater treatment, the primary goal is to precipitate and separate impurities from the water and then recycle the treated water. In this process of impurity precipitation and separation, the commonly used water-purifying aid is primarily polyacrylamide flocculant. Through years of water purification practice, it has been found that the application of anionic polyacrylamide is the most widespread, most effective, and has the lowest water treatment cost in steel plant wastewater treatment.

Overview of Anionic Polyacrylamide

Anionic polyacrylamide appears as a white powder or granules, possessing multiple properties such as flocculation, thickening, and shear resistance. It is easily soluble in water and almost insoluble in organic solvents. It is widely used in industries like oil extraction, paper making, chemicals, and mineral processing.

Description of anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) products: The molecular weight of anionic polyacrylamide ranges from 6 million to 25 million, and it has good water solubility, able to dissolve in water at any proportion but not in organic solvents. The effective pH range is 7 to 14, and it exhibits the characteristics of a polymer electrolyte in neutral and alkaline media, being sensitive to salts and capable of cross-linking with polyvalent metal ions to form insoluble gel.

Anionic Polyacrylamide is Best for Steel Plant Wastewater Treatment

Anionic polyacrylamide is a water-soluble high molecular polymer. Due to a certain number of polar groups in its molecular chain, it can adsorb suspended solid particles in water, allowing them to bridge between particles or neutralize charges to form large flocculates. Therefore, Beijing SINOFLOC anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) can accelerate the sedimentation of particles in suspension, significantly speeding up the clarification of solutions and promoting filtration. This is why anionic polyacrylamide is the most effective in steel plant wastewater treatment.

How to Use Anionic Polyacrylamide in Steel Plant Wastewater Treatment

Usage instructions:

  • In the treatment of steel plant wastewater, dissolve anionic polyacrylamide in water to create a 0.01% concentration solution, preferably using neutral water without salt impurities.

  • When dissolving Beijing SINOFLOC anionic polyacrylamide for steel plant wastewater treatment, evenly sprinkle the anionic polyacrylamide product into stirred water, controlling the stirring speed at 100~300 rpm. Proper heating (<60℃) can accelerate dissolution.

  • Adjust the pH of the liquid being treated to ensure the full effectiveness of Beijing SINOFLOC anionic polyacrylamide products. (choose the optimal pH and anionic polyacrylamide dosage through experiments)

  • When adding the product solution, accelerate its mixing with the treated liquid, and after flocculates appear, reduce the stirring speed to maximize flocculate growth and accelerate their sedimentation.
